Clinton
Prairie Pastures Dog Park.
Prairie Pastures Dog Park is located in Clinton, Iowa, which is just north of the Quad cities, and I-80, on Highay 30 and 67, or take Highway 61 to Highway 30 East.
The dog park is located in the North of town, just off Highway 67, at Eagle Point Park, across from the south playground, where there is ample parking. It's a short walk with your dog on leash to the dog park's entrance.
There are 6 plus acres of area for large and small dogs to romp and play, with seperate yards and entry gates for small and large dogs to be off leash. With this much area, even on "busy" days the dog park doesn't seem crowded.
The dog park is completely enclosed, so there is no fear of your off leash pet escaping the play areas.
The small dogs have an acre of play area in which to play, with a "king-of-the-hill" to run on and under, and a shaded area for their owners to sit.
There are four large areas for the large dogs to play frisbie or fetch, or just romp and chase, There is a nature trail for dogs and humans to walk. There are areas of natural fauna for the hunting breeds to "practice" their sniffing, and there are shade trees and benches throughout the park for owners to sit and watch as the dogs socialize and play.
Within that area we are adding a play and splash area for small and large dogs to play in the water. This will be a gated area so that owners who do not want their pets in the water will not have to worry about them getting in.
We are expanding the dog park with an addition of an area for senior dogs and those with special physical needs which will open by the middle of July. This, too will be completely fenced in, with a seperate entrance gate.
This will expand our dog park to almost eight acres, and the park is maintained by the membership dues, and by hard working and dedicated volunteers. There are no tax dollars used to subsadize this park.
Visitors to the park may purchase a day pass for $3.00, and this, too, goes toward the park maintainance.
Prairie Pastures Dog Park opened July 16, 2007, and has had visitors from all over the USA. It has received rave reviews from the visitors, and the members work hard to keep it a happy place for our pets.
Prairie Pastures Dog Park is open from 7:30 am till dusk daily, 365 days a year, and closed only for the safety of you and your pet. We do not shovel the snow in the winter since the area is all grass, and it may become icy in the winter.
There are water stations throughout the park for the dogs. There are also waste bags and receptacles conviently located throughout the park.
We do ask that no food, human or dog, be brought in to the park, but bottled water is allowed, For the safety of all, it is a tobacco free area.
